Diamonds are a Gal's best friend and April's Birthstone

A Diamond improves one's finanacial position,
bringer of hope and clarity.

It has many strengths and few weaknesses. It is four times harder than sapphires and rubies.

The name “diamond” derives from the ancient Greek adamas (αδάμας), meaning invincible and from the latin Dia Monde which means gift for oral.

These shimmering stone have a significant impact on one's mental well being. They act as a binding and cohesive factor in relationships and stand for fidelity and commitment. These stunning stones also instill courage and fearlessness besides fuelling imagination and inventiveness.

Diamonds work wonders for allergies and build one's stamina, besides being beneficial for dizziness and vertigo. So now you know how multifaceted diamonds actually are. For all the ladies out there, you now have more reasons than one to wear and flaunt your best friend, the forever diamond.

Recycle them if you have them sitting in your safe collecting dust! This means taking your old diamond jewelry that you no longer wear to a reputable Jeweler. You can sell the gold for cash, which will enable you to refresh your diamonds into pieces that you will love to wear and show off.

The diamond above belonged to the owner's great-grandmother and was in the safe for a very long time. She finally got it out, it was set in the most tiniest band. We went for a clean modern new mounting.

The above is an example of an 18K gold ring consisting of diamonds from three different rings. They had been sitting in a safe for 10 years and now have a new lease on life as it never comes off the finger of the wearer.

March's Birthstone is Aquamarine

The name aquamarine was derived by the Romans, "aqua" meaning water and "mare" meaning sea, because it looked like sea water. They were considered sacred to Neptune, god of the sea. This association with and safe voyages as well as protection against perils and monsters of the sea. Its first documented use was by the Greeks between 480-300 BC. They wore aquamarine amulets engraved with the god Poseidon on a chariot.

The aquamarine was believed to possess medicinal and healing powers, curing ailments of the stomach, liver, jaws and throat. During the Middle Ages, it was believed to be an effective antidote against poison. Aquamarines were thought to be the source of power for soothsayers, who called it the "magic mirror", and used it for telling fortunes and answering questions about the future. It is said that Emperor Nero used it as an eyeglass 2,000 years ago, and much later, aquamarines were used as glasses in Germany to correct shortsightedness. In fact, the German name for eyeglasses today is "brille", derived from the mineral beryl.

Brazilian Gemstones & Custom Heirloom Jewelry

I am really pleased to have a new supplier of precious gem stones here in Bali. This valuable contact , Rafael, is bringing the stones in directly from the mines in the Northeast of his native country Brazil. The beautiful stones on offer consist of emeralds, diamonds, paraiba tourmalines, aquamarines, citrines, amethysts and crysoberyl's to name a few. There are also many more on offer.

Rafael also has beautiful black/green/grey A grade quality 8-9mm Tahitian pearls which he acquired on a working holiday there.

All these stones and pearls are of excellent quality at amazingly affordable prices!

Custom Heirloom Jewelry

In November I returned to Bali from a quick business trip to Jakarta where I met with certain Ambassadors wives to discuss custom jewelry work and also some maintenance on precious family heirloom pieces. We spent quite some time designing custom rings featuring emeralds and diamonds which were supplied by my new Brazilian contact Rafael. The ladies absolutely loved the gems and I am planning a return visit early in the New Year as the stones were so well received the ladies are already planning to have me design more custom pieces for them.

BWA Bazaar

While in Jakarta I also attended the BWA Bazaar. My collections were a sell out with the most popular items being from the Root, Kupu Kupu (Butterfly) and Carved Lotus Collections. Charms, always popular, were a big seller too.
